新聞がGoogleから引きあげた場合の、Googleの経営に与える影響に関する調査報告書が出た。そしてその‘影響’は…、ほとんど無に等しい。

あるドイツの調査機関が、Googleの“財務的搾取”に反対する宣言にハンブルグで署名したドイツの148の出版社の、およそ1000のドメインがGoogleを去ったらGoogle自身はどうなるか、という調査を行った。

Google Germanyの上で100万種のキーワードについて検索したところ、結果の上位10項目に占めるドイツのニュースサイトの比率はわずかに5%であり、しかもそれらはGoogleに対する反対宣言に署名をしなかった出版社/新聞社のものだった。

つまり、これらの新聞社/出版社がGoogleを去っても、Googleが負う痛手はかぎりなくゼロに近い。

これに対し、もしもWikipedia…ボランティアが構築…がGoogleを拒否したら、従来の検索結果のトップ（いちばん上）だった項目が13%失われることになる。…この調査を行った調査会社TRGは、そう言っている。
