残留日本兵の横井さんもジャングルの「竹薮」で暮らしてたわけだからな。竹を組んだり編んだりすることで、住居や寝台をはじめとするありとあらゆる家具と日常道具を割と簡単に作れた。

純然たる木材だとこうはいかん。もっと膨大な労力を取られる。
それどころか横井氏は原始的な機械（機織り機、動物を捕らえる罠）すら竹でこしらえていた。

俺も前から思ってたんだが、竹は奇跡のアイテムだよな。
形が異質な上に成長性がおかしい、逆に竹に進化したのはいつ頃からだったんだろうか？
